Comparing two Watercolour Artists

Helen Wells:

Likes creating colourful, detailed and patterned pieces of art that celebrate the positive side of life. Her work often includes multiple layers, fragments, colours and obsessive decorative elements. Wells is inspired by patterns and decorative motifs from nature, from fossils, fish and feathers to the seashore, snowflakes, foliage and flowers. She works mostly in watercolour but sometimes combines mediums such as ink and collage.

Tracy Hall:

Paints in watercolour, both transparent and opaque. She works from life and photographs and unlike Helen Wells she finds joy in the fine details and her favourite part is adding the little intricate observations. Hall focuses on acuracy whilst Wells focuses on imagination. These two artists although working with the same medium apply it in such different ways and I find that very interesting.
